The Best Ugly Jacket I've Ever Had

My mother picked up this jacket for me from a second hand store last week and insists that I post a photo of this beautiful article of clothing.

So here is it... faux red trim AND long horn embroidery all in one! Lucky me!

Thanks for the coat Mum (and for the laughs when buying it.. clothes hunting with you is always a riot).

I'll wear it to o'Hanlon's on Friday, I plomise.

This past weekend was amazing.

I got to play an unforgettable house concert at Neil Jone's Studio in Rockglen, complete with friendly faces and a power outage (which turned out to be awesome cause then I played unplugged AND we had a Stevie nick's singalong AND I want to cry just thinking about how fun it was...)

Then Saturday I went to Saskatoon. It was an honour to be a part of the Bone Shaker event, raising funds for the independent horror/comedy film “INSTRUMENTS of EVIL”. Good friends, good beer, good times.

Thursday - Gravelbourg - Wiley's - 8 pm
Friday - Moose Jaw - Private Function
Saturday - Moose Jaw - Common Cafe + Bakery

Song Harvest Mixes

Today I am listening to mixes of my upcoming release, Song Harvest Volume One.

These are all songs I wrote in the Palmer church, rehearsed in the church, and recorded in the church. I am so happy with how Brodie Mohninger captured the songs. They sound like the church and I couldn't be happier.

I will be releasing this album next year. (Here's hoping February!!!)

In the meantime, I am singing some of these songs this week:

November 20 - Moose Jaw - Intellectually Challenged Art Class Musical Guest at the Moose Jaw Museum & Art Gallery
November 21 - Mortlach - Little Red Market Cafe
November 22 - Saskatoon - House Concert

Hey-Yo Harvest! Apple Carrot Soup

Hey-Yo Harvest! Carrot Apple Soup

I found an abundance of carrots in my fridge (thank you room mates) so I made this soup. I revised a recipe I found on tasteofhome.com.

Original version - http://www.tasteofhome.com/recipes/carrot-apple-soup

1 tablespoon canola oil
8 medium carrots, peeled and chopped
2 medium tart apples, peeled and chopped
1 medium onion, chopped
5 cups low-sodium vegetable broth
1/2 teaspoon italian seasoning or sage
1/4 teaspoon pepper
1 bay leaf

In a large saucepan, warm the oil. Add carrots, apples, and onion; cook and stir until onion is tender, about 5 minutes. Add broth, seasoning, pepper and bay leaf; bring to a boil. Reduce heat; cover and simmer for 20 minutes or until carrots are tender. Remove bay leaf. Cool soup for 5 minutes. Puree. Return to the saucepan; cover and cook over medium until heated through.

Also I launched a new website today - www.megannash.ca

I will still use this site as a blog. Thanks for checking it out.
